A joint operation involving law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions culminated in the successful arrest of two suspects after a high-speed pursuit on July 20, 2023. The incident began when a Lewisville Police Officer detected a stolen vehicle through an in-car ALPR system on the 4600 block of Sam Rayburn Tollway.
The stolen vehicle had been reported missing by the Shreveport, Louisiana, Police Department. Upon receiving the hit, the vigilant patrol officer promptly attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to comply and instead accelerated, initiating a dangerous chase.
During the pursuit, the passenger inside the stolen vehicle was observed throwing two handguns and a quantity of marijuana from the car in an attempt to evade law enforcement. However, their efforts were in vain, as the coordinated response from the involved agencies ensured a swift and safe conclusion.
Multiple law enforcement units, including Lewisville Patrol Officers and Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit, collaborated with police officers from the Prosper, Little Elm, and Frisco Police Departments, as well as Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, in the joint effort to apprehend the suspects.
Finally, after a well-executed maneuver deploying spike strips, the stolen vehicle was brought to a halt, and both suspects were taken into custody without further incident.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Kevin Hunter from Shreveport, Louisiana, faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. Meanwhile, the passenger, 18-year-old Gakendrion Gay, faces charges of Possession of Marijuana, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
