Mother and Children Trapped in Burning Home Rescued by Arlington Firefighters

On August 14, 2023, the Arlington Fire Department swiftly responded to an emergency call reporting a house fire with visible smoke and flames engulfing a residence located in the vicinity of the 6000 block of Farmingdale Drive.

According to initial information, the situation escalated rapidly as it became apparent that three individuals were trapped within the blazing structure. Consequently, the incident prompted an immediate elevation to a second-alarm fire response even before units had reached the scene. Upon arrival, the first responding unit encountered a two-story residential home with the fire concentrated in the garage and extending to a corner of the building.

Eyewitnesses on the scene informed emergency personnel that a wife and her two children were located upstairs. The occupants, a 6-year-old male, a 10-year-old female, and an adult female, were located by the fire department personnel inside a second-floor bedroom closet, where they had sought refuge. The swift and determined efforts of the fire department's team resulted in the successful rescue of all three individuals from the perilous situation.

The fire's ferocity required the deployment of resources on a three-alarm scale to contain and extinguish the blaze. Remarkably, no casualties among the responding fire department personnel were reported during the operation.

The rescued victims were subsequently transported to a local medical facility for urgent medical attention. As of the latest reports, all three individuals have been transferred to a medical facility located outside the city, and their condition has been stabilized.
