The Lewisville Police Department has taken a major step forward in the investigation of the double murder that occurred at a residence on the 800 block of Ramblewood Drive. A suspect has been arrested and charged with Capital Murder in relation to the gruesome incident.

Samuel Atinafu Melkamu was arrested on August 16, 2023.

No details regarding potential motives or connections to the victims have been disclosed.

The tragic discovery was made on Monday, August 14, when a relative visited the house for a welfare check. Concerned by the lack of contact with the residents, the relative was met with a horrifying scene upon entering the residence. The lifeless bodies of a Hispanic female and a Hispanic male were found within, prompting immediate police involvement.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office (TCME) identified the victims as 66-year-old Lilia Fernandez-Ortiz and 43-year-old Alejandro Arellano-Fernandez.  According to the TCME report,  Fernandez-Ortiz's body was found in the kitchen and Arrellano-Fernandez's body was found in the garage. Both were killed by gunshot to the head.   The bodies of the mother and son had been at the home for several days before being found.
