Double Homicide in Irving Claims Mother and Daughter; Suspect At-Large

Wanted Suspect: Hector Matute (aka Hector Paguada)

On Friday, January 19, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., the Irving Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 2000 block of West Irving Blvd at Park Springs of Irving Apartments. Callers reported a recent shooting, revealing two victims in this incident.

Juana Medina Rodriguez, 55 years old, identified as the mother, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Nayeli Bolanos Medina, 23 years old, identified as the daughter, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Nayeli's 5-year-old son was found in the apartment unharmed.  Both Juana and Nayeli are originally from El Salvador.  The consulate of El Salvador in Dallas is helping the family with funeral arrangements and the transport of the bodies back to their native country.  

The Irving Criminal Investigations Unit, Fugitive Unit, and Crime Information Center are actively engaged in efforts to identify and locate the suspect, Hector Matute (aka Hector Paguada), 33 years old. While the initial investigation suggests a prior connection between the suspect and the victims, the motive for the shooting remains unclear. A warrant for Capital Murder has been issued for Matute in relation to this heartbreaking incident.

Irving Police Investigators are appealing to the public for any information on the whereabouts of Hector Matute. Individuals with relevant information are urged to contact their local police department immediately or the Irving Police Department at 972-273-1010.

Warning: Do not attempt to approach or apprehend the suspect yourself.
