On Thursday, January 25, 2024, shortly after 8:30 pm, Arlington police officers responded to a reported shooting at the Chatham Green Village Apartments in the 3500 block of Chatham Green Ln, off of  W Arbrook Blvd.

The initial call to 911 came from a witness who reported hearing something unusual. Upon investigation, the witness discovered an adult male lying unresponsive outside an apartment. The witness also observed that the apartment door had been forcibly kicked in.

Due to the nature of the call, officers did an emergency sweep of the apartment and found a 29-year-old female and 31-year-old male inside who also had gunshot wounds. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 31-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Two children were found inside the apartment and were unharmed. They have been safely released to family members.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives learned the man and woman found inside the apartment were in a dating relationship and lived at the apartment with the woman’s children. The man found near the doorway appears to be an acquaintance who was visiting the apartment.

Witnesses told officers they saw a man running from the scene shortly after they heard gunshots. No arrests have been made.

After speaking to witnesses and reviewing evidence, investigators believe high-risk activity may be involved in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
