24-year-old Rudy Venegas has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the shooting and killing of 21-year-old Edgar Razo. The incident occurred after a dispute over a girl at a party, as disclosed by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office.
The tragedy unfolded on September 22, 2018, at the Cavile Place Apartments located at Ettha St and E. Rosedale St in East Fort Worth, prompting a response from law enforcement. Upon arrival, officers discovered Razo had been transported to JPS Hospital in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Razo succumbed to his injuries.
Witnesses came forward, detailing the events of the fateful night to detectives. According to their accounts, Venegas pursued Razo throughout the parking lot, firing multiple shots before ultimately fatally injuring him. Shockingly, Venegas proceeded to kick Razo in the face as he sought refuge under a nearby vehicle.
The prosecution of the case was undertaken by Samantha Fant and Jeanne Truglio, with the Fort Worth Police Department leading the investigation.
