The Denton Police Department has arrested a second suspect in the investigation of a deadly shooting that occurred on May 25.
On May 25, a male driver of a pickup truck was parked in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive when three men – Zachary Lowe, 34; Riley Clowers, 24; and River Williams, 25 – approached and forced him to the ground at gunpoint. Williams then entered the passenger side of the truck with a firearm.
The driver managed to get back into the truck and attempted to drive away with Williams still inside. During the struggle for the gun, both the driver and Williams were shot. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined that Lowe and Clowers committed the offense of murder because they both presented weapons during the commission of an aggravated assault, leading to Williams' death.
Lowe, from North Richland Hills, was arrested for murder in Saginaw on Tuesday afternoon with the assistance of the North Texas and East Texas US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He is currently held in the City of Denton Jail with bond not yet set.
Clowers, who was previously arrested on May 25 for murder, remains in the Denton County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Logan Miller at (940) 349-8156. Tips can also be reported anonymously to Denton County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-388-TIPS (8477) or online at www.dentoncountycrimestoppers.com.
