Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 35 Years for Strangling Girlfriend and Breaking Her Jaw
On September 27, 2024, a Tarrant County jury found 46-year-old Jerry Carter guilty of assault by impeding breath with a prior conviction, sentencing him to 35 years in prison.
Carter, a repeat offender, assaulted his girlfriend on April 27, 2022, breaking her jaw and strangling her with a phone cord. The Fort Worth Police Department investigated the case, and prosecutors James Fletcher and Riley Reynolds secured the conviction.
