Irving Police detectives are searching for a scammer involved in defrauding senior citizens across the country. The latest victim, an 88-year-old woman from out of state, was tricked into sending $15,000 cash to an individual in Irving.
On October 10, 2024, the scammer convinced the victim to wrap the money in aluminum foil and place it between the pages of a book. The next day, the victim mailed the package to "M. Ali" at the CVS Pharmacy located at 410 W. Rochelle Rd., a UPS Access Point. On October 12, around 4:26 p.m., a male suspect picked up two packages and left in an unknown vehicle.
Police have released photos from a video of the suspect and are asking for help in identifying him.
