The female resident had called 911, stating that an unknown male suspect, armed with a pistol, was trying to force his way into her house through the rear garage door. Dispatch could hear screams and yelling on the line, while multiple neighbors called to report hearing gunshots in the area.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found the resident outside her home, who reported that she believed she had shot the intruder. A pistol was found next to the suspect, who was identified as 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon. Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived to transport him to a local hospital in critical condition.
The victim reported noticing a dark truck following her into her neighborhood, which then pulled into her rear driveway.
