The Arlington Police Department is investigating a double homicide following a shooting at an Airbnb rental on Slaughter Street.

On November 23, 2024, around 10:22 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment in the 600 block of Slaughter Street. Upon arrival, police found a 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old female in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds. The 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 18-year-old woman was transported to Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing a group of individuals flee from the apartment and drive away after the gunfire. Investigators recovered multiple shell casings at the scene but noted no signs of theft.

According to detectives, the 19-year-old had rented the apartment for his birthday weekend through a short-term rental platform. The victims did not reside at the apartment complex, and investigators believe the shooting was not random.

One of the deceased was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 18-year-old Alexis Johniyah Tyler of Mesquite.

The investigation remains ongoing as police review surveillance footage and search for witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Dixon at (817) 459-5579 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.
