Former Johnson County Officer Faces Multiple Child Exploitation Charges

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Texas Rangers, is actively investigating multiple cases involving former law enforcement officer Daniel Joseph Bates.

Bates, a former police officer and sheriff's deputy, was first arrested on January 31, 2025, for Online Solicitation of a Minor – Sexual Conduct. After posting bond, he was arrested again on February 4, 2025, on charges of Possession or Promotion of Child Pornography.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, with multiple search warrants currently being executed. Law enforcement officials urge anyone who may have been victimized by Bates, or suspects someone may be a victim, to contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and ask for Detective Reilly.
