ARLINGTON, Texas — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a March 2026 homicide that left a 32-year-old man dead outside an event venue.

According to the Arlington Police Department, 28-year-old Xavier Leon Jones was located and taken into custody on April 23, 2026, in the Panama City, Florida area by the U.S. Marshals Service Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Karri Viswanath (victim)

Jones is charged with murder in the death of Karri Kartik Viswanath, Jr.

Investigators said the shooting occurred on March 29, 2026, in the 1200 block of California Lane. Viswanath was shot multiple times outside an event venue following an altercation inside. A friend transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

Witnesses told officers that Jones and Viswanath were involved in a physical fight inside the venue before security began clearing the area. Shortly after, multiple gunshots were heard outside.

Authorities said witnesses saw Jones leave the scene in a vehicle. Another witness later told detectives they saw Jones holding a gun prior to the shooting and pointed investigators to video circulating online that appeared to show Jones retrieving an object from a vehicle and manipulating it in a manner consistent with a firearm before the gunfire.

Jones is currently being held in the Bay County Jail in Florida and is awaiting extradition back to Tarrant County.
