PARKER COUNTY, Texas - A Parker County woman has been arrested after investigators say she posed as a police officer before forcing her way into the home of an 86-year-old man, assaulting him and stealing $2,000 in cash.
According to the Parker County Sheriff's Office, deputies and investigators responded on July 16 after the elderly victim called 911 to report that someone had broken into his home and robbed him.
Responding deputies first ensured the victim was safe before launching an investigation into what authorities described as a home invasion robbery.
Sheriff Russ Authier condemned crimes targeting elderly victims and praised Investigator Katherine Buononato for quickly identifying, locating and arresting the suspect.
According to investigators, the victim told deputies he heard someone pounding on the back door of his home while announcing themselves as "Police."
When the man opened the door, the suspect shined a strobing flashlight into his face before forcing her way inside.
The victim told investigators the suspect, who sounded like a woman, demanded money while yelling that he would go to jail if he did not comply.
Authorities said the victim was struck multiple times in the arms and chest before the suspect placed him in a chokehold.
During the struggle, the victim was able to clearly see the suspect and recognized her as 63-year-old Jacqueline Smith Johnson, someone he knew.
Investigators determined Johnson assaulted the victim, stole $2,000 in cash from the residence and fled before law enforcement arrived.
Based on the victim's statements and evidence collected at the scene, Investigator Buononato obtained an arrest warrant charging Johnson with Aggravated Robbery of an Elderly Person, a first-degree felony.
On July 20, investigators located Johnson and arrested her without incident. She was booked into the Parker County Jail, where her bond was set at $50,000.
The Parker County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
