ARLINGTON, Texas - A 79-year-old woman died after a single-vehicle crash in Arlington earlier this month, according to the Arlington Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:03 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, to the 2600 block of New York Avenue after receiving reports of a crash.

Investigators said a 2019 Cadillac CT5 traveling northbound left the roadway and struck a tree in the median.

The driver, a 66-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

A 79-year-old passenger in the Cadillac was also taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Maria Tuyen Nguyen, 79, who was originally from Vietnam.

According to police, the driver told investigators another vehicle unexpectedly entered her lane of travel, causing her to take evasive action before losing control and leaving the roadway.

Police have not said whether the other vehicle remained at the scene or has been identified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
