MANSFIELD, Texas - A 56-year-old woman died Saturday evening after the riding lawn mower she was operating overturned into a creek, trapping her underneath, according to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 5:10 p.m. on Aug. 1 to a residence in the 100 block of Willow Creek Circle in Mansfield for a reported death investigation.
According to the sheriff's office, initial reports indicated the riding lawn mower overturned into a creek, pinning the woman beneath it.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim after her husband had attempted to free her before emergency responders reached the scene.
Despite his efforts, the 56-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Krista Thompson.
The Tarrant County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators said foul play is not suspected at this time, although the investigation remains ongoing.
