WEATHERFORD, Texas — A 38-year-old high school math teacher has resigned from Weatherford Independent School District and faces a felony charge after police discovered he was exchanging inappropriate text messages with a 17-year-old student, authorities announced.
38-year-old Chase Michael Liles was taken into custody on Thursday, August 6, 2026, by the Weatherford Police Department. He was booked into the Parker County Jail on a warrant for Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student, a second-degree felony under Texas law.
CPS Notification and Text Message Probe
The criminal investigation began on July 30, 2026, when Child Protective Services (CPS) contacted the Weatherford Police Department regarding allegations that an adult male educator was sending sexually inappropriate text messages to a student.
Detectives assigned to the case identified the suspect as Liles, who was actively employed as a mathematics teacher at Weatherford High School. Through forensic review and interviews, investigators determined that Liles had been engaging in improper messaging with a 17-year-old student, establishing probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant.
District Resignation and Parker County Arrest
Following his arrest on August 6, Liles was booked into the Parker County Jail, where a judge set his bond at $50,000. Liles subsequently posted bail and was released from custody.
Weatherford ISD officials confirmed that Liles has formally resigned from his teaching position with the school district as of August 5th.
