22-Year-Old Woman Killed, Another Wounded in Southeast Dallas Shooting

DALLAS - A 22-year-old woman was killed and another woman was wounded in a shooting Friday night in southeast Dallas, police said.

Dallas police responded to the apartment complex, Las Lomas Apartments, in the 6100 block of Trail Glen Drive, near Pemberton Hill Road and South Great Trinity Forest Way, at about 10:08 p.m. Sept. 18.

Officers found two women suffering from gunshot wounds.

Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced 22-year-old Zyaira Evette Sterling dead at the scene. The second woman was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Police have not released the surviving victim's identity or provided information about what led to the shooting. No arrests or suspect descriptions have been announced.

The motive and circumstances remain under investigation. The case is documented under number 137949-2026.
