Two Women Found Dead in Fort Worth Apartment in Apparent Murder-Suicide, Police Say

FORT WORTH, Texas - Two women were found dead inside a north Fort Worth apartment Wednesday night after a concerned relative requested a welfare check, and police are investigating the deaths as an apparent murder-suicide.

Fort Worth police responded at approximately 8:52 p.m. Sept. 23 to an apartment community in the 2200 block of Whistler Creek Drive.

According to police, a family member had been trying to contact a relative who lived at the apartment. The family member told officers he had last spoken with her by phone the previous night.

After receiving no response by phone or at the apartment door, he contacted police and requested a welfare check.

While at the apartment, an officer looked through a window and saw what appeared to be a deceased person inside, police said. Officers then forced their way into the apartment to check on anyone who might be inside.

First responders found two adult women dead. Police said the women were related to each other but did not disclose their relationship.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said a gun was observed near the younger of the two women.

Police said preliminary evidence points to a murder-suicide, but the department's Homicide Unit responded to the apartment and is investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths. Authorities have not said which woman is believed to have fired the weapon.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the women and determine their causes and manners of death.

Police said the deaths appear to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public.
