PLANO, Texas — Two people were killed Friday evening, November 6, 2026, when a speeding pickup truck struck an SUV at a Plano intersection, causing the SUV to overturn. Police arrested the pickup driver on a driving while intoxicated charge.

The deadly collision occurred around 7:15 p.m. near Alma Drive and Cross Bend Road, according to the Plano Police Department.

Plano police officers and Plano Fire-Rescue personnel responded to reports of a serious two-vehicle crash and found two occupants of one vehicle unconscious.

Toyota RAV4 Struck While Turning Left

According to the preliminary investigation, a Toyota RAV4 was traveling northbound on Alma Drive and attempted to turn left onto westbound Cross Bend Road while facing a flashing yellow traffic signal.

As the SUV turned, a Ford F-150 traveling southbound on Alma Drive at a high rate of speed struck the passenger side of the RAV4.

The impact caused the SUV to overturn and come to rest on its right side.

The vehicles also struck a traffic signal pole and a tree on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the deadly collision.

Plano Man Arrested on DWI Charge

Police identified the driver of the Ford F-150 as Steve Jaramillo, 22, of Plano.

Jaramillo was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following the crash.

The identities of the two deceased victims are being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.

Police said additional criminal charges may be considered depending on the findings of the investigation.

The Plano Police Traffic Unit continues to investigate the collision.
