Five Arrested in Targeted Lewisville Apartment Shooting That Left Man Dead
LEWISVILLE, Texas - Five suspects, including a juvenile, have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Lewisville apartment earlier this month that police say was planned and targeted.
The arrests stem from the Sept. 11 killing of a man in the 200 block of East Corporate Drive.
Lewisville police officers responded at approximately 8:38 p.m. after receiving a report of a person shot. Officers found an adult Hispanic man outside an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Lewisville Fire Department personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police have not identified the victim in the information released.
Detectives determined the shooting was a targeted attack rather than a random act of violence, according to the Lewisville Police Department. Investigators eventually identified five suspects.
Four of the suspects, including three adults and a juvenile, were arrested in Colorado. They remain in custody there while Lewisville police coordinate with Colorado authorities to transfer them to the Denton County Sheriff's Office.
Police identified the four adult suspects as Gabriel Eduardo Olivo-Olivo, Erian Jose Espinoza-Martinez, Carly Yoalbert Guerrero-Aguero and Daniel Jesus Rodriguez-Perez. Each faces a murder charge.
The fifth suspect is a juvenile whose identity is being withheld.
Rodriguez Perez was arrested Friday, Sept. 25, in Plano and transported to the Lewisville City Jail without incident. Police said he is the only adult suspect currently in local custody.
Lewisville police have not disclosed what investigators believe motivated the shooting or described the alleged role of each suspect.
Police Chief Brook Rollins said detectives followed evidence across multiple jurisdictions and state lines to identify and locate the suspects.
"These arrests are an important step, but the investigation is not over," Rollins said. "There is still work to be done, and our team will continue it with the same persistence and professionalism that got us here."
The investigation involved assistance from the FBI's Dallas and Denver field offices, U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security Investigations Dallas, Texas Department of Public Safety, Plano Police Department, Adams and Arapahoe county sheriff's offices in Colorado and Aurora Police Department.
