Man Killed in Early-Morning Shooting at Fort Worth Home; One Person Detained

FORT WORTH, Texas - Fort Worth police are investigating a homicide after a 41-year-old man was fatally shot inside a home in the Summerfields area early Saturday morning.

Officers responded at approximately 3:36 a.m. Sept. 26 to a reported shooting at a residence in the 8300 block of North Riverside Drive, near North Tarrant Parkway.

When officers entered the residence, they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Fort Worth Police Department.

Police also encountered another adult man who surrendered to officers with his hands raised. He was detained without further incident.

Fort Worth Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the shooting victim dead at the scene.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Nicacio Hernandez, 41.

Police said Hernandez and the detained man knew each other. Homicide detectives were interviewing the detained man Saturday as they worked to determine what led to the shooting.

Police have not announced an arrest or identified the detained man. Investigators also have not released information about the relationship between the two men or the circumstances leading up to the gunfire.

Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident.
