Lewisville SWAT Standoff Ends With Surrender After Woman Shot in Domestic Incident
LEWISVILLE, Texas - A SWAT standoff in a Lewisville neighborhood ended peacefully Wednesday morning after a man suspected of shooting a woman surrendered to police about two hours after officers surrounded a home.
The incident began earlier Wednesday, Oct. 7, with a shooting in the 100 block of Eastwood Place, according to the Lewisville Police Department.
Police said an adult male shot an adult female. Information available to investigators indicated the two were in a domestic relationship.
The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police did not immediately release information about the extent of her injuries.
Officers later located the suspected shooter at a residence in the 200 block of Ridgeway Circle.
At approximately 7 a.m., Lewisville police deployed the department's SWAT team to the area after the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.
Trained negotiators worked with the SWAT team in an effort to get the man to surrender without anyone else being injured.
About two hours later, police announced that the suspect had surrendered to officers without incident.
The man was undergoing a medical evaluation before being processed by police. His identity was being withheld until he is formally booked.
Police reopened the area around Ridgeway Circle to vehicle traffic following the surrender.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities had not announced what charges the suspect will face.
