Irving Outlaws to Host National Wheelchair Football Tournament in Dallas Nov. 1-2; Full Roster and Game Schedule

DALLAS, Texas - The Irving Outlaws Wheelchair Football Team will welcome teams from across the country to North Texas for the USA Wheelchair Football League's third national tournament of the 2026 season, scheduled for Nov. 1-2 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in downtown Dallas.

The tournament, hosted by Irving-based nonprofit RISE Adaptive Sports, will feature teams representing NFL franchises and adaptive sports organizations competing over two days. Games will be played in Hall C, with the championship scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public, giving North Texas residents an opportunity to watch competitive wheelchair football and support the hometown Irving Outlaws.

Irving Outlaws Originally Competed as Dallas Cowboys Wheelchair Football Club

The Irving Outlaws were established in 2022 by RISE Adaptive Sports, an Irving-based nonprofit organization that provides adaptive recreational sports programs for individuals with physical disabilities.  The Irving Outlaws played its first tournament in August of 2022.

The team was previously known as the Dallas Cowboys Wheelchair Football Club before adopting the Irving Outlaws name.

RISE stands for Recover, Inspire, Succeed and Empower, reflecting the organization's mission to help people with physical challenges participate in sports and recreational activities.

The Outlaws compete in the USA Wheelchair Football League (USAWFL), which was created in 2020 through a partnership involving Move United, the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the NFL's Salute to Service initiative.

Now in its sixth competitive season, the league provides organized football competition for athletes with physical disabilities, including military veterans.

The program continues to receive support through an NFL-Bob Woodruff Foundation Salute to Service partnership grant.

Eight Teams Competing in Dallas

The tournament announcement identifies eight participating teams:

  • Irving Outlaws

  • Birmingham Hammers

  • GLASA Chicago Bears

  • Kansas City Chiefs

  • Las Vegas Raiders

  • New Orleans Saints

  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • WWAR Generals

The detailed pool-play schedule provided for the tournament lists seven teams, however, and does not include a game for the Birmingham Hammers.

Irving Outlaws Head Coach Welcomes Visiting Teams

Irving Outlaws Head Coach Danny Peltier said the tournament offers an opportunity to introduce wheelchair football to more North Texas residents while welcoming athletes and their families from around the country.

"RISE Adaptive Sports is excited to welcome wheelchair football teams and their families to the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Hosting a tournament here gives us a chance to share the sport with our community and show our visitors some Texas hospitality," Peltier said.

"We hope teams can arrive early and spend some time exploring; whether it's the Fort Worth Stockyards, Sundance Square, Deep Ellum, or the Bishop Arts District. With so much to see, do, and eat, there's something for everyone."
