In a shocking incident that unfolded in the early hours of August 9, 2023, a member of the Northwest Crime Response Team was shot and injured while on duty. The incident took place at approximately 12:45 am in the 2400 block of Northwest Highway.
According to authorities, the officer was conducting a covert operation when he came under attack. The officer managed to contact 911 despite being wounded and reported that he had been shot and his covert vehicle had been stolen. Law enforcement agencies immediately launched a massive manhunt for the suspects involved.
The injured officer was swiftly attended to by his colleagues and was transported to a local hospital in a patrol vehicle. Fortunately, his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, and he has since been discharged from the hospital.
