University Park City Employee Rescued After Becoming Entrapped in Trench

On October 25, 2023, University Park Infrastructure Maintenance crews were working on installing a sewer line on Binkley Ave to provide service to a home. Crews were installing shoring when the south side wall collapsed and caved in, trapping a City employee from the waist down.

The University Park Fire Department (UPFD) responded and attempted to remove the employee from the entrapment. Dallas Fire Rescue USAR responded and assisted in the rescue.

The employee was trapped for about 30 minutes and UPFD transported him to Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.
