The Denton Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, leaving one person dead.
Multiple reports of gunfire were received around midnight on Saturday from an apartment complex located in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive. Witnesses stated they saw individuals possibly involved in the incident fleeing in a pickup truck, which was later found in a nearby field by officers.
Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered two men inside the truck suffering from gunshot wounds. The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Detectives have determined that this appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office pending family notification.
