Fatal Shooting in Lake Highlands: Suspect Arrested
On July 5, 2024, at approximately 7:10 AM, Dallas police responded to a disturbance armed encounter call in the 9500 block of Royal Lane in Lake Highlands. Upon arrival, officers found 47-year-old Unetria Williams shot inside a home. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation determined that the suspect and the victim were known to each other. Further investigation identified 40-year-old Demarcus Gates as the suspect who shot and killed Williams. Gates was arrested and charged with murder.
