Woman in Critical Condition After Being Hit by Dallas Police Car in Pleasant Grove

On August 5, 2024, at 7:07 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a car-pedestrian crash in the 8700 block of Elam Road in Pleasant Grove. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Dallas Police Officer in a marked squad car was traveling east on Elam Road to a call without lights and sirens activated. A female pedestrian, standing in the median, ran in front of two vehicles attempting to turn left onto Cedarcliff Drive and into the far-left lane where the officer was driving. The woman was struck by the squad car.

The officer stopped and administered first aid at the scene. The woman was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition. The officer was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing and is documented under case number 119809-2924.

UPDATE: On August 6, 2024, the pedestrian, 20-year-old Aresly Jaramillo, died at a local hospital.
