2-Year-Old Critically Injured in East Dallas Shooting; Suspect in Custody

Late Sunday, August 25th, Dallas Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at around 8:15 PM on the 8500 block of Sweetwater Drive in East Dallas, near Ferguson Road and Lakeland Drive. Upon arrival, officers found that shots had been fired into a vehicle, striking a 2-year-old child inside.

The child was immediately rushed to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including the motive and details of how the shots were fired, remain under investigation.

Following the incident, a suspect was taken into custody. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released. Dallas Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
