On Tuesday morning, September 10th, DeSoto Police received an anonymous tip online alleging that a student was possibly armed with a firearm at DeSoto High School. In response, the school was placed on temporary lockdown, and additional police resources were deployed to the scene.
Police quickly determined that the student in question was not on campus and was no longer enrolled at the high school. The lockdown was subsequently lifted, although police remained in the area as a precaution.
By 11:10 a.m., DeSoto Police had contacted the guardian of the former student and detained the 16-year-old juvenile. Authorities have confirmed there is no immediate threat to students or the public.
DeSoto Police expressed gratitude to DeSoto ISD for their cooperation in resolving the situation swiftly.
