Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Fight in Dallas

Late Saturday night, November 2, 2024, Dallas Police officers responded to a Disturbance Emergency call involving an ambulance in the 6500 block of Wofford Drive. Upon arrival, officers found that a fight had taken place between James John Vara, 26, and Benjamin Muniz Jr., 25. During the altercation, Vara reportedly fell and struck his head, resulting in fatal injuries. Dallas Fire Rescue pronounced Vara dead at the scene.

After a month-long investigation into the incident, Muniz was taken into custody and charged with Murder. He was transported to the Dallas County Jail, where his bond was set at $100,000.

The investigation remains ongoing under case number 166554-2024.
