Repeat Offender Sentenced to 10 Years for Terrorizing Neighborhood Women in Dallas

Defendant: Juan Jacob Diaz

DALLAS, TX — A 31-year-old Dallas man is headed back to prison after a string of violent and disturbing incidents targeting women in his community.

Prosecutors say Juan Jacob Diaz was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to Violation of a Protective Order 2+ Times within 12 Months.

According to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, Diaz had recently been released from prison after serving 13 years for five counts of aggravated robbery. He went to live with his grandmother, but within months began terrorizing women in his neighborhood.

Investigators say Diaz’s behavior escalated quickly. He allegedly chased a 10-year-old girl riding her bicycle, groped a 68-year-old woman while she was gardening, and stalked several female neighbors at all hours. In another incident, Diaz reportedly ran up to a woman locked out of her home and forcibly kissed her.

The violence turned inward when Diaz allegedly pushed and strangled his mother in broad daylight and later jumped on top of his grandmother in bed, exposing himself.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Family Violence and Mental Health Divisions, the Protective Order Unit, and several investigators, prosecutors were able to build a strong case against Diaz.

Diaz’s conviction and 10-year sentence bring closure to what officials describe as months of fear for the victims and neighbors affected by his actions.
