ARLINGTON, TX — The Arlington Police Department says Sam Houston High School was placed on lockdown Friday morning after officers were alerted to a possible threat circulating on social media.
Police emphasized that there was no shooting and no injuries at any time.
The lockdown was initiated after a post suggested that someone on campus may have had a weapon. Officers quickly identified two juvenile suspects, who were found to be posing with a toy gun in photos shared online.
Both students were arrested and charged with Terroristic Threat, then transported to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.
The lockdown has since been lifted, and police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.
In a statement, Arlington Police said the department takes all school safety threats seriously:
“The safety of our schools is not something we take lightly. This incident resulted in widespread fear and interruption to the school day, which we can’t have.”
Police urged parents to remind their children to think carefully about what they post on social media, as online behavior can have real-world legal consequences.
