Suspect in Carrollton Murder Found Dead Following Van Alstyne Standoff

Suspect: Jomaar Lee Davis

VAN ALSTYNE, TX – A standoff in Van Alstyne involving a suspected Carrollton murderer ended with the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on October 21, 2025.

On October 20, Carrollton Police were dispatched to a medical emergency in the 4600 block of North Josey Lane, where 24-year-old Briana Casto was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives quickly identified her boyfriend, 24-year-old Jomaar Lee Davis, as the primary suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

The following day, information obtained by the Celina Police Department indicated that Davis was in the Van Alstyne area. At approximately 3:30 am, officers from the Van Alstyne and Anna Police Departments responded and located Casto’s vehicle, which Davis was occupying.  A standoff ensued.

Crisis negotiators established phone contact with the suspect to resolve the standoff peacefully. At some point, however, communication with the suspect was cut off, escalating the situation. Members of a SWAT team subsequently approached the vehicle, at which point a gunshot was heard, indicating the suspect had inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Van Alstyne Fire Department and EMS personnel, who were standing by, immediately provided life-saving aid at the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

No officers or civilians were injured during the incident.

The Carrollton Police Department expressed appreciation to the Celina Police Department, Van Alstyne Police Department, Anna Police Department, and the Grayson County SWAT Team for their assistance and coordinated efforts. The investigation into the homicide remains active.
