Flower Mound Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2023 Murder Outside Lewisville Raising Cane's

Siang Leng Thang

A Denton County jury has sentenced Siang Leng Thang, of Flower Mound, to life in prison for the 2023 murder of 17-year-old Skylar Ashton Marquel Linson. The verdict was delivered on October 24, 2025, following a trial prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Karen Anders and Michelle Lowery, with support from Investigator Rick Duggan and Victim Liaison Amber Dunn. The case was investigated by the Lewisville Police Department.

The shooting occurred on the afternoon of September 20, 2023, in the parking lot of a Raising Cane’s restaurant located in the 1000 block of West Main Street in Lewisville. Officers responded around 4:10 p.m. after reports of a shooting and found Linson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Medical City Lewisville, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators determined that Linson had just exited his car and was walking toward the restaurant when another vehicle pulled up. The driver got out, shot Linson, and then sped away. Thang, who was an underaged teenager at the time, was later identified as the shooter.

A good Samaritan who witnessed the incident followed the suspect’s vehicle from the scene, providing real-time updates to law enforcement as Thang drove along Interstate 35 and onto the President George Bush Turnpike. The pursuit ended in Carrollton, where Thang eventually stopped near the 1800 block of Trinity Mills Road and surrendered to police.

Linson, a senior at Lewisville High School, was an aspiring rapper who had shared a live performance on social media just 30 minutes before he was killed.
