Fort Worth Child Sex Abuser Captured After Six Years Sentenced to 35 Years

TARRANT COUNTY, Texas - A Tarrant County court has convicted Carlos Perez Castro, 54, of multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, sentencing him to 35 years in state prison.

The conviction and sentence bring closure to a case that began in Fort Worth in 2016.

Details of the Crime and Capture

The crime occurred on October 9, 2016, when Castro lured an 11-year-old girl by offering her gum. When she approached him, he grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

  • Initial Investigation: Family members immediately contacted the Fort Worth Police Department, and their subsequent investigation identified Castro as the suspect.

  • Fugitive Status: Castro went on the run for six years until he was finally captured and arrested in Miami, Florida, on October 21, 2022.

  • Extradition: He was extradited back to Tarrant County on February 18, 2023, where he has remained in custody.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys John Kleinwachter and Matt Rivers.
