Abilene, TX – Detectives with the Abilene Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau have formally charged 35-year-old Anthony Emilio Sanchez with First-Degree Murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife, 32-year-old Desree Dominique Sanchez, on the morning of December 6, 2025. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Swift Water Drive.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched around 10:18 a.m. to reports of an injured person. Upon arrival, Desree Sanchez was found unconscious at the scene and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Following the stabbing, Anthony Sanchez fled the scene with the couple’s 1-year-old child. The ensuing pursuit involved multiple law enforcement agencies and concluded south of Stamford, Texas, when Sanchez crashed his vehicle. The child sustained minor injuries but was unharmed and is now safe.
Sanchez was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the crash. On December 10, 2025, after recovering, he was booked into the Taylor County Jail and formally charged with First-Degree Murder. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
Authorities are also pursuing criminal charges related to the pursuit and crash. The Abilene Police Department expressed gratitude to Anson PD, Jones County SO, Stamford PD, Hamlin PD, and the Texas Department of Public Safety for their assistance in safely apprehending the suspect.
