The Arlington Police Department has arrested 29-year-old Malik Miner in connection with a November freeway shooting that left a pregnant woman and her unborn child dead.
Members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Miner in Midlothian on December 10 and took him into custody without incident. He is charged with Capital Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Deadly Conduct.
The shooting happened on November 12, 2025. A 28-year-old man called 911 around 7:41 p.m. after he and his girlfriend were shot while driving west on I-20 near Bowman Springs Road. He pulled into a parking lot off Little Road, where first responders met them.
His girlfriend, 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson, was found unresponsive in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital and later died. Doctors determined she was pregnant. The man survived after being hospitalized with serious injuries. Two children in the back seat were checked at the hospital and were not seriously hurt.
A second vehicle was also struck by gunfire, though no one inside was injured.
Detectives quickly ruled out road rage. After reviewing witness statements and video, they determined the attack was targeted. Investigators learned Miner had previously dated Johnson and had been in an ongoing conflict with her current boyfriend.
A search warrant executed at Miner’s home revealed evidence that helped strengthen the case, including his phone. Location records from his device and Johnson’s placed him at the scene and showed he was following the victims' vehicle in the minutes before the shooting.
After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, detectives filed charges. Miner declined to speak with investigators after his arrest.
