Spring Break Impaired Driving Mobilization DWI Enforcement

The Spring Break Impaired Driving Mobilization (DWI Enforcement) grant is currently underway and will continue until March 17. The grant is in conjunction with the State’s “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.” campaign.

The grant allows the Department to have additional officers on duty with the primary purpose of locating and arresting impaired drivers. These officers will be patrolling throughout the City to ensure compliance through visibility and enforcement.

During the weekend of March 15, the Department will be utilizing a no-refusal approach to DWI enforcement.

When a person is arrested for DWI, they will be offered a blood test (no breath test will be offered). If anyone refuses to provide a blood sample, a judge will be present in order to authorize a warrant for a blood draw.

The spring break period is typically a time of increased travel, and our goal is to keep drivers safe as they travel through Irving. Driving impaired is simply not worth it, so don’t take the chance. Remember, “Drink. Drive. Go to Jail.” During last year’s no-refusal weekend, the Irving Police Department arrested 32 people for drunk driving.
