Irving's Unemployment Rate Drops

The recent successes of the Irving Economic Development Partnership, during the past few months, have contributed to a low level of unemployment for Irving not seen since mid-2008, according to Shawn Callaway, Interim President and CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber.

The unemployment rate as of April 2014 has dropped to 4.3 percent, declining .6 percent from March, and from 5.6 percent in April 2013. Irving last experienced a low unemployment rate of 4.3 percent in mid-2008. Texas’ unemployment rate is 5.2 percent, while the national unemployment is 6.3 percent.

Over the past 20 months, the Chamber reports adding, or retaining, some 9,113 jobs in Irving.
