Softball Player, Bowling Captain Named One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month

Nimitz High School senior Katie Maberry was named the One Irving Scholar Athlete of the Month for October. The award is presented to a student who has shown extraordinary dedication and achievement in sports and in the classroom. Maberry, the Lady Vikings softball most improved player last year and captain of the bowling team, is ranked 29th in her class of 634 students. She is a member of Viking Crew, student government, FCCLA, National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. Her athletic accomplishments include being named to the All-District softball and bowling teams, and she’s tallied more than 100 hours of community service at Irving Cares.
