The Irving Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred July 28th, at approximately 10:35 a.m., in the 1500 Block of N. Union Bower Rd on east side of Loop 12. Officers were dispatched to a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian.
The victim was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Alejandro Rodriguez, 34 years of age.
During the initial investigation at the scene, officers discovered that the victim and the suspect had been involved in some type of altercation which preceded the suspect striking the victim with his vehicle.
The suspect fled the scene but was later taken into custody. He has been identified as Alejandro Cabrera, 20 years of age.
The suspect is in the Irving Municipal Jail and he will be arraigned on a charge of Murder at which time bond will be set. The investigation is still in the early stages.
