Irving nonprofit puts homeless youths on path to success by pairing them with sponsor families

Bob Harris has seen time and again how a helping hand can lift a homeless youth.

Eight years ago, the Irving resident said, he hired a young man off the streets for the summer and then, once the school year started, helped him connect with an organization that gave him resources to stay off the streets.

"He's now a college graduate," Harris said. "He graduated from the University of Dallas, and he's in Italy now through a program they offer."

That experience, Harris said, is why he jumped at the opportunity to become involved in Level Pathways, a new Irving nonprofit that helps homeless people ages 14 to 24 by providing clothes, food, medical care and educational resources.

The organization also has a program called Embrace, which finds sponsor families to take in Irving youth who are homeless.
