During the August 19 City Council Work Session meeting, Irving Police Chief Jeff Spivey received the On the Spot Award for his ongoing efforts and commitment to improving police relationships with the community. The award also was in part for his participation in the Back to School Kutz event earlier this month.
On August 8, Chief Spivey was scheduled to go out of town. Prior to his departure, he stopped by the event hosted by Noe's Kustom Kutz. The Police and Fire community event was open for children in grades pre-K through eighth grade and included free haircuts and school supply giveaways. Chief Spivey's appearance at the event spoke volumes to the owner of Noe's Kustom Kutz, as well as the Irving community.
Chief Spivey was nominated by Irving Officer Jon Plunkett for going above and beyond, in relation to the Shop Talk Program.
