Bedford Police Issues Alert on Burglary Suspects Posting as Utility Workers

Last week, the Bedford Police Department received two burglary reports involving two Hispanic male suspects posing as Oncor employees (or possibly another electricity provider), telling residents they need to check their meter. One of the suspects, who was wearing a reflective green vest, distracted the homeowner to draw them away from the house so the other suspect could enter the home and steal things. In both cases, the suspects seem to be targeting wallets and jewelry.

The first incident occurred on Queens Way (in proximity of SH 121 & Brown Trail) between 2:30 and 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, and the second offense occurred yesterday, May 21 around 5 p.m. on Stonegate Drive (South of Bedford Road). The suspects are reportedly driving a black pickup truck (possibly a Dodge). If someone sees these suspects or interacts with them, please call 9-1-1.

Please note, Oncor employees will always carry an Oncor Badge and drive a marked Oncor truck. They have been trained to willingly show their badge and provide their name for verification. If customers have questions or need to verify an employee’s status, they can call 888-313-6862 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. CT). Oncor will verify any work being performed on a property and if Oncor employees truly need access.
