In a heartbreaking incident on Friday, July 21, 2023, a domestic altercation turned into a deadly shootout resulting in the loss of a dedicated law enforcement officer. At approximately 9:00 PM, Deputies from the Eastland County Sheriff's Office responded to a call reporting a domestic fight in progress at a residence located on Hwy 183 between Cisco and Rising Star.
The first officer on the scene, Deputy David Bosecker, bravely rushed to confront the suspect, only to face a hail of bullets from the assailant. Tragically, Deputy Bosecker was struck and fatally wounded during the exchange of gunfire. Despite efforts to save his life, the courageous law enforcement veteran succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He leaves behind a devastated community mourning the loss of an exceptional officer.
The suspect responsible for the fatal shooting, Cody Douglas Pritchard, was promptly apprehended by other units arriving at the scene. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured during the chaotic incident. The apprehended suspect was transported to Stephens County Jail and is facing charges of Capitol Murder.
Deputy David Bosecker had served in law enforcement for more than two decades, amassing a distinguished and varied career that showcased his commitment to upholding the law and protecting the public. He began his journey in Wise County as a deputy before transitioning to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Later, he became a Game Warden for Texas Parks and Wildlife, and subsequently, he became a Police Officer for the Comanche Police Department.
Finally, in 2021, Deputy Bosecker found a home at the Eastland County Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated his skills and passion to the community he served. Beyond his duties as a deputy, he also worked part-time for the Cisco Police Department, serving as a marine enforcement officer.
