Teenage Girl Shot at Arlington's Dottie Lynn Rec Center: Latest Updates from Police

Arlington Police have released new information regarding the shooting incident that took place earlier this morning at the Dottie Lynn Rec Center. At approximately 4:20 am, officers responded to a report of a shooting at the rec center, located in the 3200 block of Norwood Ln.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a teenage girl in the pool area with a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Fortunately, she has undergone surgery and is now expected to survive, according to medical staff. Detectives have not been able to interview her due to her condition.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. It is believed that the victim, along with a group of teenagers, had entered the pool area by jumping the fence, which is closed for the season. At some point during their gathering, the victim was shot. The circumstances that led to the shooting and the identity of the shooter remain unclear.

Police officers located and detained two teenagers who were believed to have been present at the pool when the shooting occurred. A firearm was also recovered at the scene. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the firearm was used in the shooting.

One of the detained teenagers, a female juvenile, has been arrested on charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Evading, and Criminal Trespass. The other, a male juvenile, has been arrested for Criminal Trespass. Both teenagers have been transported to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center. Due to their ages, the police will not release their names or provide further details about their arrests.

Arlington Police suspect that there were several other teenagers present at the rec center when the shooting occurred. They are urging the public to come forward with any information about the incident or knowledge of those individuals.
