North Richland Hills Police Use Technology and Traditional Methods to Capture Robbery Suspects

In a successful joint effort between advanced technology and traditional policing, the North Richland Hills Police D-shift apprehended three individuals believed to be connected to a recent robbery in a neighboring community south of Fort Worth.

The police department has recently partnered with Flock Safety, incorporating License Plate Reader (LPR) technology to enhance operational efficiency and community safety. This collaboration yielded remarkable results when an LPR system alerted an officer to a stolen license plate captured by one of the cameras.

Following the alert, the officer located the vehicle in question and confirmed the stolen license plate. Notably, the license plate was attached to a different car than originally registered. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle itself was reported stolen. Subsequently, three individuals inside the vehicle were arrested.

A search of the apprehended vehicle uncovered a variety of concerning items, including realistic-looking toy guns, a substantial amount of cash, a large quantity of cigarettes and cigars, drug paraphernalia, a wig, a black mask, and what appeared to be burglary tools. Detectives suspected there might be more to the story and shared their findings with surrounding departments through the communications center.

In a swift response, a nearby agency reported a recent robbery and identified the arrested individuals as potential suspects. The trio, consisting of two adult men and an adult woman from the Dallas, Desoto, and Mesquite areas, now faces legal consequences. The woman, who was driving the stolen vehicle, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and holds outstanding warrants from the Dallas area. One man was arrested for existing warrants, while the second man was cited and released due to a medical condition.
