In a recent legal case, the State faced off against 40-year-old David Eugene Fields on charges of sexual assault. Chelsea McHenry led the prosecution, with Deborah Bankhead as the second chair. The case was investigated by DA investigators Lee Thompson and Abigail Cruz, while DA Victim Advocate Adriana Sellers provided support.
The incident occurred at the Ledbetter DART station on February 25, 2023, where the defendant sexually assaulted the victim. Prompt intervention by eyewitnesses thwarted the attack. Following the incident, the defendant was located down the street and positively identified by the victim as the perpetrator.
During the trial, it was revealed that the defendant had prior convictions for sexual assault of a child, compelling prostitution, and failure to register. The court found David Fields guilty, and he has been sentenced to life in prison.
